Riaz Seedat is Professor and Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of the Free State and Universitas Academic Hospital. His areas of interest include paediatric otorhinolaryngology, and infectious diseases and allergy in ENT, with recurrent respiratory papillomatosis and allergic rhinitis being specific areas of research.

He has an MMed in Otorhinolaryngology from the University of the Free State and is a Fellow of the College of Otorhinolaryngologists. He serves on the Council of the College of Otorhinolaryngologists and was previously Secretary of the College of Otorhinolaryngologists and on the Senate of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa.
