Dr Werner Hoek is an Ear Nose and Throat specialist practising from Mediclinic Gariep Hospital in Kimberley. He performs sessions at the state sector at Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital.
Dr Hoek was born and bred in Bloemfontein. He matriculated from Sand du Plessis High school in 1996. He completed his degree with honours from the University of the Free State in 2002.
He completed his post-graduate studies in Otorhinolaryngology at the University of the Free State in July 2010 and transferred back to Kimberley. He practices as a general ENT specialist with keen interest in the management of allergic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis especially allergic and invasive fungal rhinosinusitis. He has a keen interest in Palynology and has been a member of the SAPNET team since 2019 where he manages the pollen monitoring for the Kimberley site.
He has been part of some of the publications that have been produced from this team. He also published on the allergen sensitisation patterns from the Northern Cape Province.
