Dr Takudzwa Matuvhunye is a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Cape Town’s Lung Institute, within the Allergy and Immunology Unit. He holds a PhD in Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases from the University of the Witwatersrand. His current research focuses on monitoring airborne pollen and fungal spores across South African aerobiomes. He employs immunological, molecular, and sequencing-based techniques to identify outdoor and indoor allergens, with the aim of improving our understanding of environmental drivers of allergic disease.
