Welcome to
SATS & ALLSA Congress 2025

Allergy, Critical Care, Immune Deficiency,  Paediatric Pulmonology,  Pulmonology & Thoracic Surgery.

Dear Friends and Colleagues

We are pleased to announce that the SATS/ALLSA Congress 2025 will be held at the newly renovated Indaba Hotel Conference Centre in Johannesburg from 21 to 24 August 2025.

Offering cost-effective onsite accommodation, ample high-traffic exhibition spaces, and complimentary parking, the venue ensures a convenient and comfortable experience for all attendees. Its prime location, near major highways, provides easy access to both airports, with Lanseria Airport only 15–20 minutes away (19km) and O.R Thambo International 40 minutes (38km) away.

For the first time, we are including a critical care programme together with surgical and pulmonology programs. The sessions are carefully structured alongside other tracks to avoid conflict of choice between two simultaneously appealing sessions.

Achieving a healthy work-life balance is always a challenge, and with that in mind, we aim to make the most of the beautiful 42-acre garden venue. In addition to enjoying the tranquil setting, leisure-related suppliers will be present to display their products in these open spaces, offering a welcome opportunity to unwind.

We’ve taken your feedback from previous congresses into account, and we’re confident this year’s format will exceed expectations. The 2025 SATS Pulmonology track promises an engaging three-day program, including hands-on workshops the day before including EBUS and advanced thoracic sonography. Renowned international and local experts will present a comprehensive ICU track covering ECMO for pulmonologists, alongside discussions on connective tissue lung disease and updates on targeted therapies for asthma, COPD, pulmonary hypertension, and bronchiectasis.

Message from the
THE ALLERGY SOCIETY OF SOUTH AFRICA (ALLSA)

The Allergy Society of South Africa (ALLSA) looks forward to another collaboration with the Thoracic Society of South Africa (SATS). Our mission is to host a landmark joint meeting that promises to advance the fields of respiratory and allergic diseases. The congress will feature a complementary plenary programme from ALLSA, designed to complement the SATS offerings, ensuring a holistic exploration of respiratory and allergic health. In addition to the plenary sessions, ALLSA will provide specialised breakaway sessions focused on the latest developments and pressing issues in allergy care. To further enhance the educational experience, ALLSA will also offer pre-congress workshops dedicated to allergy and clinical immunology, providing participants with in-depth, practical knowledge crucial for clinical excellence in these rapidly evolving fields.

Message from the
PAEDIATRIC PULMONOLOGY SOCIETY

The Paediatric Pulmonology track will focus on keeping attendees up to date with topics tailored to a South African audience. We will give updates on relevant issues such as infectious diseases, asthma, bronchiectasis, lung development and pulmonary function testing, focusing on new and local research and reviews. We will have multiple combined sessions with the Allergy Society of South Africa (ALLSA), covering topics such as primary immunodeficiencies and asthma, ensuring that the audience is not split between the two societies.

Our congress planning committee has for the first time seen senior members in the societies involved across the country working as a team and listening to you, our delegates.

We look forward to welcoming you at the SATS & ALLSA Congress 2025 in Johannesburg.
